Sony completes 391.2 kWp solar project at Jafza headquarters in Dubai

Sony solar project in Jafza will cover 40% of its Dubai headquarters’ energy needs.

Sony Middle East and Africa has completed a new solar power energy project at its regional headquarters in the Jebel Ali Free Zone, marking a major sustainability step for the company’s Dubai operations.

The project has a capacity of 391.2 kilowatt-peak, or kWp, and is expected to offset about 40% of the facility’s total energy consumption, according to an announcement shared by the Dubai Media Office.

A cleaner power source for a regional hub

The solar installation adds clean energy capacity to Sony’s regional base in Jafza, one of Dubai’s most important trade and logistics zones. The company said the project reflects its wider sustainability agenda and its continued commitment to the UAE as a strategic hub for regional operations and growth.

Sony Middle East and Africa FZE is the company’s regional headquarters for the Middle East and Africa. According to its official company outline, the Dubai-based entity supports Sony consumer electronics, mobile electronics, broadcasting and professional products, and PlayStation-related operations across more than 40 countries.

The project also shows how multinational companies based in Dubai are using rooftop and on-site solar systems to reduce electricity demand from conventional sources. The 391.2 kWp capacity gives the facility a direct renewable energy source while keeping the regional headquarters in the UAE.

Jafza’s sustainability push gains another corporate project

The move comes as Jafza continues to position itself as a business district that supports cleaner operations. The free zone says sustainability is part of its long-term approach, with initiatives focused on energy efficiency, resource savings and lower environmental impact, according to Jafza’s sustainability platform.

For Sony, the project connects operational efficiency with corporate responsibility. Cutting a large share of the headquarters’ energy consumption through solar power can help reduce reliance on grid electricity and support the company’s environmental goals in the region.

The project also aligns with the UAE’s broader clean energy direction. The UAE Energy Strategy 2050 aims to triple the contribution of renewable energy and increase investment in clean energy as the country works toward net zero ambitions.

Dubai remains central to Sony’s regional growth

Sony’s latest investment reinforces Dubai’s role as a base for companies managing operations across the Middle East and Africa. Jafza’s location near Jebel Ali Port and Al Maktoum International Airport gives companies access to regional and global supply chains.

By completing the solar project at its Dubai headquarters, Sony is linking its regional growth plans with a visible sustainability milestone. The company’s next challenge will be to build on this step and keep reducing the environmental footprint of its operations across the region.
