How to Get to Palm Jumeirah by Metro or Bus (2026)
Current Palm Jumeirah transport guide with Metro, Tram, bus and taxi routes, plus the latest official Palm Monorail suspension notice.

There is no Dubai Metro station on Palm Jumeirah. As of 20 October 2026, the official Palm Monorail website says monorail service is temporarily suspended until further notice for maintenance. For now, use the Red Line plus Dubai Tram, then finish by taxi—or take a taxi directly from a convenient Metro station.
Best route while the Monorail is suspended
| Destination | Practical public-transport route |
|---|---|
| Palm Gateway / base of the Palm | Red Line to Sobha Realty or DMCC, Tram to Palm Jumeirah (T09), then walk |
| Palm West Beach | Metro + Tram, then taxi; walking suitability depends on the exact venue |
| Palm Jumeirah Mall / The View | Metro + Tram, then taxi to Palm Jumeirah Mall |
| Atlantis / Aquaventure | Red Line to Sobha Realty or DMCC, then taxi; or Tram to T09 and taxi |
| Hotels or homes on a frond | Taxi for the final section; public transport does not serve every frond |

Metro and Tram route to Palm Jumeirah
- Take the Red Line to Sobha Realty (R36) or DMCC (R37).
- Follow signs to the connected Dubai Tram station: Dubai Marina from Sobha Realty or Jumeirah Lakes Towers from DMCC.
- Board the tram in the direction that serves Palm Jumeirah Tram Station (T09).
- From T09, walk to the Palm Gateway area or take a taxi to your exact destination.
From Dubai International Airport
From Terminal 1 or 3, take the Red Line towards Expo 2020 / Life Pharmacy. For the Tram route, change at Sobha Realty or DMCC and continue as above. With luggage, a taxi from one of those Metro stations is usually easier than transferring to the Tram.
The airport-to-Palm trip crosses much of Dubai. Leave a generous buffer for peak-hour crowds and road traffic.
From Downtown Dubai
From Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall or Business Bay, take the Red Line towards Expo 2020 / Life Pharmacy. Change for Dubai Tram at Sobha Realty or DMCC, then use a taxi for the final island section.
For Atlantis, a taxi directly from the Red Line may save time compared with taking the Tram to T09 first. Compare live journey times in S'hail or your map app.
Can you reach Palm Jumeirah by bus?
RTA Route 8 has served the Palm Jumeirah Monorail/Palm Gateway area on its coastal route between Ibn Battuta and northern Dubai. It does not provide a simple direct ride to every Palm hotel, frond or the Atlantis end of the crescent.
Check the live stop and timetable in the RTA S'hail app before relying on Route 8. For most visitors, Metro + Tram + taxi is easier to understand and more flexible.
Getting to Atlantis and Aquaventure during the suspension
Until the Monorail resumes, use a taxi or ride-hailing car for the final trip to Atlantis Aquaventure. Ask for the attraction entrance rather than only “Atlantis”, because the resort complex has different drop-off points.
For admission planning and current attraction details, see our Aquaventure transport guide, but confirm the Monorail service notice first because transport conditions can change quickly.
What happens when the Monorail resumes?
Under normal operations, visitors walk from Palm Jumeirah Tram Station to Palm Gateway Monorail Station and ride towards Al Ittihad Park, Palm Jumeirah Mall and Atlantis Aquaventure.
The operator's published standard fares include AED 20 one way / AED 30 return from Palm Gateway to Atlantis Aquaventure. These fares are provided for planning after service resumes; they do not mean trains are currently running. The Monorail uses its own tickets rather than nol for ordinary travel.
Always check the official Monorail service page before buying or starting the journey.
Taxi, driving and parking
Taxi is the most direct option, especially for Atlantis, the crescent, private residences and hotels on the fronds. Road congestion can be heavy at weekend evenings, brunch times and major events.
If driving, use the venue's exact parking instructions. Do not assume one Palm car park is convenient for another destination. Hotel valet parking, attraction parking and mall parking have different rules and validation policies.
Metro and Tram operating hours
Dubai Metro generally operates Monday–Thursday 5:00 am–midnight, Friday 5:00 am–1:00 am the next day, Saturday 5:00 am–midnight and Sunday 8:00 am–midnight. Dubai Tram hours and final connections differ.
These are network hours, not guaranteed departure times. Check RTA timetables and leave time for the walk or taxi after the last rail leg.
Frequently asked questions
Is the Palm Monorail operating today?
The official website stated on 20 October 2026 that service was temporarily suspended until further notice for maintenance. Recheck the operator's homepage on your travel day.
What is the nearest Metro station to Palm Jumeirah?
There is no Metro station on the island. Sobha Realty and DMCC are practical Red Line interchanges for Dubai Tram and onward taxis.
Which Tram stop is closest to Palm Jumeirah?
Palm Jumeirah Tram Station (T09) is beside the Palm Gateway area. It is not at Atlantis.
Can I use a nol card on the Palm Monorail?
The Monorail normally uses separate tickets. Use nol for the Dubai Metro, Tram and RTA bus portions.
What is the easiest route to Atlantis?
While the Monorail is suspended, take the Red Line towards Dubai Marina and finish by taxi. Metro + Tram to T09 plus taxi is an alternative if it suits your starting point.
How do I reach Palm Jumeirah Mall and The View?
Take the Metro and Tram toward Palm Jumeirah T09, then a taxi to Palm Jumeirah Mall. The View is in The Palm Tower connected to the mall complex.
For nearby rail information, read our JLT transport guide and Ibn Battuta Metro Station guide.
Transport status checked 20 October 2026. Because the Monorail suspension is temporary, verify again immediately before travel.
