Dubai’s Ruler Orders Release of 985 Prisoners Ahead of Eid Al Adha

In a humanitarian gesture marking the holy occasion of Eid Al Adha, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai, has ordered the release of 985 prisoners of various nationalities from the emirate’s correctional and punitive institutions.

Dubai Public Prosecution, under the direction of Chancellor Essam Issa Al Humaidan, confirmed that the legal procedures to implement this directive are already underway. The move aims to reunite families and offer inmates a second chance.

This initiative is part of a broader tradition observed in the UAE, where authorities issue pardons on religious occasions. The practice reinforces national values of compassion, tolerance, and rehabilitation.
As reported by Arabian Business, similar pardons have also been announced in other emirates this year.

Across the country, thousands of inmates are being released to mark Eid Al Adha.

This reflects the UAE leadership’s consistent commitment to humanitarian policies and fostering social harmony. Such actions align with the vision of a justice system rooted in forgiveness and reintegration.
