Maj‑Gen Saif Muhair Al Mazrouei, Acting Assistant Commandant for Operations, warned these unsafe practices pose serious threats in high-traffic areas. Riders often ignore pedestrian crossings or ride scooters unsafely, sometimes underage or unqualified.
Dubai Police, in cooperation with the RTA, is running awareness and education campaigns focused on youth and visitors in residential and commercial zones. Al Mazrouei emphasized that traffic safety is a community responsibility and that ignoring laws can lead to tragedy, not just fines.
He urged everyone to use pedestrian bridges and designated crossings, wear helmets on scooters, and follow official guidelines. The public is also encouraged to report unsafe behaviour via the “Police Eye” service on the Dubai Police app or by calling 901.
