Blending Heritage with Creativity

Shaima Al Suwaidi, Director of Brand Dubai, said the competition reflects Dubai’s ability to blend heritage with modern creativity. She explained that Ramadan has always been a time when homes open their doors and hearts to family and neighbours.

“We’re excited to see that spirit expressed visually across the city through light, design and creativity inspired by Emirati traditions,” she said.

She added that one illuminated façade often inspires another. Entire streets begin to glow together. These individual efforts create a unified celebration that captures both authenticity and Dubai’s creative energy.

Ibrahim Shukrallah, Editor-in-Chief of Emarat Al Youm, said the newspaper is proud to support the initiative. He noted that the publication will spotlight participating homes and showcase their displays to highlight Dubai’s Ramadan spirit.

“This competition reflects family values, generosity and togetherness,” he said. “It brings media and community together in a meaningful way.”

How to Participate

According to the official Dubai platform, community-led initiatives during Ramadan continue to play a key role in shaping the city’s festive atmosphere. This competition builds on that tradition by encouraging residents to take part directly.

To qualify, entries must come from homes located within the emirate of Dubai. Decorations must focus on front façades and use lighting and decorative elements.

Participants must film a creative video of their decorated home. The video should reflect themes linked to the ‘Year of Family.’ It must be uploaded to a public Instagram account using the hashtag #Dubai_Best_Decorated_Ramadan_Homes_2026 and tagging @branddubai.

Sara Merdas, a member of the organising committee, said the initiative aims to maximise participation. She described it as an open invitation to families across Dubai to create warm, welcoming neighbourhood spaces.

“Every decorated home adds to the shared experience,” she said. “Together, these displays shape the ambience of the city during the Holy Month.”

As Ramadan approaches, Dubai once again invites residents to turn personal creativity into a citywide celebration, where light, family, and tradition shine side by side.
