Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced the full operational readiness of 893 air-conditioned bus shelters across 622 locations throughout the city, offering commuters comfort during the summer months.
These eco-friendly shelters are designed with accessibility and smart mobility in mind. They are equipped with digital display screens showing real-time bus arrival and departure times. The shelters comply with the
Dubai Universal Design Code, featuring spaces for wheelchair users and directional signage for the city’s bus network.
To ensure consistent performance, the RTA carried out extensive morning and evening field visits ahead of the launch. The shelters are subject to routine cleaning and sanitization in line with public health guidelines and are now being monitored by dedicated patrols.
Residents are encouraged to provide feedback through the ‘Madinati’ service on the
RTA Dubai app, helping ensure service quality and responsiveness.
This initiative is part of a broader RTA strategy to modernize Dubai’s public transport infrastructure and promote sustainable, commuter-friendly mobility year-round.
