Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced its 80th online auction for vehicle number plates, giving residents a new chance to own some of the most exclusive registration numbers in the city.
The auction will feature 350 unique plates, ranging from two to five digits, across categories H to Z and “Classic.” These plates are available for private and classic vehicles, adding prestige for collectors and car enthusiasts alike.
Interested bidders must register starting August 4. The online auction goes live on August 11 and will run for five days. This gives participants ample time to place their bids and compete for their desired numbers.
To participate, individuals must have a valid traffic file in Dubai. They are also required to provide a security cheque of Dh5,000 and pay a non-refundable participation fee of Dh120.
Winning bidders must complete their payments within 10 working days of the auction’s conclusion. The RTA has made the payment process simple and accessible. Payments can be made either online through its official website or in person at one of its Customer Happiness Centres.
The RTA’s vehicle plate auctions are a popular way for car owners and investors to acquire unique number plates, some of which have fetched hundreds of thousands of dirhams in the past. These auctions not only generate revenue for the government but also feed into Dubai’s status culture, where car plates often signal prestige.
