Mohammed bin Rashid Launches World’s Highest Metro Station as Dubai Metro Blue Line Breaks Ground

In a landmark moment for Dubai’s transport future, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum laid the foundation stone. He was joined by Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed and Sheikh Mansour bin Mohammed at the event.

The Dubai Metro Blue Line will stretch across 30 kilometers and include 14 new stations. It is one of the largest expansions of Dubai’s public transportation network.

The line will serve nine vital districts. These areas are expected to house more than one million residents, as outlined in the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan.

A major highlight is the new Amar Real Estate iconic station. It will be the highest metro station in the world, standing at 74 meters tall.

The station’s design was inspired by the concept of a gateway. It will span 11,000 square meters and handle 160,000 passengers daily.

“This is not just a transport project. It is a vision for the future of our city,” said Sheikh Mohammed at the event.

Once completed, the Blue Line will bring Dubai’s total railway length to 131 kilometers. It will operate through 78 stations with a fleet of 168 trains.

Dubai Metro first opened on September 9, 2009. Since then, it has carried over 2.52 billion passengers across the city.

In the past year alone, daily ridership reached an average of 900,000 passengers, according to the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA).

The Blue Line will ease congestion and cut carbon emissions. It also supports Dubai’s goal of making public transport the first choice for commuters.

This ambitious project highlights Dubai’s commitment to smart city development. It sets a new benchmark for global public transit infrastructure.
