Dubai has once again proven its global appeal by drawing a record-breaking 9.88 million international overnight visitors in the first half of 2025. The figure marks a 6% increase compared to the same period in 2024, according to the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET).
This surge is the highest-ever recorded for the first half of any year in Dubai. It highlights the city’s success in positioning itself as a year-round destination with world-class events, attractions, and hospitality. Key drivers of growth include the winter World Tennis League, Art Dubai, and continued success of the Dubai Shopping Festival and Expo City exhibitions.
Dubai’s strategic location, visa reforms, and airline connectivity also contributed. With over 200 nationalities visiting, the city continues to lead the world in blending tourism with global business appeal.
“Dubai’s commitment to sustainable growth and diverse offerings has paid off,” said a DET official. “This milestone reinforces our goal to become the most visited city globally.”
The record aligns with Dubai’s Economic Agenda D33, which targets 25 million international visitors annually by 2033. Tourism is a major part of Dubai’s plan to double the size of its economy and position itself among the top global cities in economic indicators.
The first-half performance also strengthens Dubai’s position as a safe, family-friendly, and innovation-driven destination. DET’s ongoing efforts to promote Dubai across digital and physical platforms have helped build strong visibility across Europe, Asia, the GCC, and Africa.
With the second half of 2025 set to host more mega-events, Dubai’s tourism momentum is expected to continue rising, making the full-year visitor total one to watch closely.
