Dubai Parents Turn to Private Chauffeur School Runs From About Dh100

Dubai private school runs are expanding as parents seek flexible chauffeur services with tracking and customised schedules.

Some families are moving beyond traditional school buses and booking private, chauffeur-driven vehicles to take their children to and from school.

Dubai limousine operators told Khaleej Times that demand ranges from occasional bookings to recurring monthly plans.

How much does a private school run cost?

Fairway Travel & Transport estimates that a one-way school journey can cost about Dh100. The final price depends on the distance, selected vehicle and transport arrangements.

At that estimated rate, one journey every school day could cost about Dh2,000 over a 20-day school month. Morning and afternoon journeys could reach approximately Dh4,000.

These figures are only illustrations. Parents should request a complete monthly quotation because prices can vary considerably by route and schedule.

Fairway, which operates more than 20 vehicles, reportedly receives two or three school-run enquiries each month. Families can also arrange for a nanny or relative to travel with the child.

The company said parents receive WhatsApp updates during the journey and that it checks drivers’ police clearance and relevant employment records before hiring them.

Monthly chauffeur plans attract Dubai families

Drive N Ridde Limousine LLC has introduced a dedicated school-run service for the new academic year.

The company said approximately 50 children are already using recurring monthly plans. It expects that number to exceed 200 before the end of 2026, although this remains a company projection.

Families can book morning and afternoon journeys from Monday to Friday or create a plan covering selected days and directions. Prices are calculated individually according to the route, schedule and number of children.

The operator said each family receives the same chauffeur every day. Journeys are tracked by its operations team, while parents receive WhatsApp notifications at collection and drop-off.

Children are handed over only to a parent, nanny or another adult authorised by the family, according to the company.

Drive N Ridde is also developing a parent app that it says will provide live vehicle tracking, service information and access to an in-car camera. These features were still under development when the service was reported.

What parents should check before booking

Private car-based school transport is not entirely new in Dubai. The Roads and Transport Authority previously partnered with Careem and licensed luxury-vehicle companies to provide school rides through an e-hail service.

That programme used drivers selected for their safety records and required children under 10 to travel with an adult. Parents considering another provider should ask whether similar age and supervision conditions apply to their booking. Details of the earlier service are available on the RTA website.

Before signing a monthly agreement, parents should confirm:

• Whether the limousine company and vehicle are licensed for passenger transport in Dubai
• Whether the assigned chauffeur holds the required professional permit
• Who may collect the child at the destination
• Whether an adult must accompany younger children
• Whether the correct child seat or booster seat will be provided
• How parents can monitor the journey and contact the driver
• What happens if the driver is absent, the vehicle breaks down or school closes unexpectedly
• Whether waiting time, Salik charges and schedule changes affect the price

Child restraints remain essential

UAE traffic rules require children under four to use an appropriate child seat. Children under 10, or shorter than 145 centimetres, must not sit in the front seat. Seat belts are compulsory for every passenger.

Parents should provide the child’s age, height and weight when requesting a vehicle so the operator can confirm that a suitable restraint will be available.

Private chauffeur services offer more flexibility than fixed school-bus routes, particularly for families with changing schedules. However, parents should compare the cost, licensing, supervision and safety arrangements before committing to a recurring plan.
