Dubai Police’s Hemaya Center Reaches 13 Million in Bold Anti-Drug Campaign

The Hemaya International Center, part of Dubai Police’s General Department for Anti-Narcotics, has emerged as a key player in the fight against drug abuse in the UAE. Through wide-reaching awareness initiatives, the center is reshaping how communities think about prevention, reaching millions in the process.

A Mission Beyond Enforcement

Major General Eid bin Thani, Director of the General Department for Anti-Narcotics, emphasized that winning the battle against drugs goes beyond arrests. “We believe that awareness and education are vital in safeguarding the community,” he stated. His department collaborates with schools, health institutions, and families to deliver powerful prevention programs.

From educational events to social campaigns, Hemaya’s strategy blends legal, psychological, and social support. It also offers confidential communication channels so the public can engage directly with Dubai Police.

Campaigns That Reached Millions

One of the largest initiatives took place at Dubai Hills Mall. Over 10 days, a Ministry of Interior and Dubai Police campaign impacted more than 9 million people. It included 563 dialogue sessions, 630 counseling appointments, and 95 social media activations. The campaign also sparked 210 public suggestions and 48 awareness contests.

Another event at Dubai Mall reached 13 million through targeted awareness text messages. A total of 76,160 people visited the awareness platform, while 9,520 joined raffles and prize draws.

Family-First Legal Support

Dubai Police also promoted Article 89 of the UAE’s anti-drug law. It protects individuals who seek treatment voluntarily, ensuring no legal consequences. First- and second-degree relatives are empowered to seek help on behalf of their loved ones, making early intervention easier.

Brigadier Dr. Abdul Rahman Sharaf Al Maamari, Director of the Hemaya International Center, stressed the importance of this legal safety net. “Treatment, not punishment, is the message,” he said.

Collaboration with Erada Center

Dubai Police also joined hands with the Erada Center for Treatment and Rehabilitation. Together, they hosted another event that reached over 14,000 people. It included seminars, music, workshops, and consultations. In addition, 1.5 million awareness messages were sent to the public.

From malls to mobile phones, the Hemaya Center is proving that community-driven prevention works. By shifting the focus from criminalization to compassion, Dubai Police is rewriting the rulebook on drug awareness in the region.
