Dubai Police’s Bugatti Veyron Is the World’s Fastest Patrol Car, But It’s Not for Chases

Dubai Police are not just known for maintaining order, they’re turning heads worldwide with the fastest police car ever built: a Bugatti Veyron. This car can reach a jaw-dropping speed of 253 miles per hour, but it’s rarely used to chase down criminals. Instead, it’s part of a larger mission.

Dubai’s supercar police fleet includes Ferraris, Lamborghinis, Aston Martins, Bentleys, and more. While these vehicles might seem out of place in law enforcement, they serve a surprising purpose, building better connections with the public, especially tourists.

“The goal is to break down barriers and show that we’re approachable,” said Major Sultan Al Marri, a senior Dubai Police official. “When people see our cars, they smile, take pictures, and feel more comfortable around officers.”

This strategy has worked. Tourists often share photos of the supercars online, adding to Dubai’s reputation as a luxury-driven, high-tech city. The cars are often parked near famous landmarks like the Burj Khalifa and The Dubai Mall, where visitors can engage with police in a friendly setting.

In a powerful show of gender equality, many of these luxury vehicles are driven by women officers. Dubai Police have made strides in integrating women into frontline roles, challenging outdated perceptions and reinforcing the city’s modern image.

According to the Dubai Police official website, the supercar fleet is more than just eye candy, it’s a symbol of the emirate’s transformation from a quiet desert outpost into a global metropolis driven by innovation, security, and style.

Dubai’s unique approach to community policing has attracted international media attention. In fact, Guinness World Records has recognized the Bugatti Veyron as the world’s fastest police vehicle.

“Our vehicles reflect the energy of Dubai itself,” added Major Al Marri. “Fast, modern, and always looking forward.”

And while you probably won’t see these supercars racing down Sheikh Zayed Road in pursuit of lawbreakers, you’re almost certain to see them putting a smile on someone’s face.
