Dubai Police Recover Jeweller’s Dh1.1 Million Diamond Bag Lost in Airport Mix-Up

A Dubai-based jeweller almost lost Dh1.1 million worth of diamonds in a shocking airport luggage mix-up during a trip to a GCC country. What started as a routine journey to a jewellery exhibition turned into a high-stakes international recovery mission.

According to Dubai Police, the jeweller mistakenly picked up the wrong bag at the airport security checkpoint. Unaware of the swap, a Bangladeshi passenger had taken one of the jeweller’s four bags, which was filled with high-value diamonds.

Realizing the loss, the jeweller returned to Dubai immediately and reported the incident. Dubai Police launched a rapid investigation. A specialized team was formed, and authorities quickly coordinated with the UAE Embassy in Dhaka and Bangladeshi officials to trace the bag’s location.

Thanks to this swift cooperation and intelligence sharing, the missing bag was successfully recovered and returned to the jeweller within days.

In a statement, the jeweller praised Dubai Police for their professionalism and speed. “I was overwhelmed by their response. The officers handled everything with such care and urgency. I’m truly grateful,” he said.

This case highlights Dubai’s commitment to protecting its residents and upholding public trust, even across borders. Authorities reminded the public to double-check luggage during travel, especially when transporting valuables.

The Dubai Police continue to uphold their reputation for solving cases swiftly and with integrity, reinforcing the city’s position as one of the safest travel hubs in the world.
