A Dubai Indian expat boy’s death at 11 has left the community in shock and mourning.
Joel Binoy, an 11-year-old Indian student in Dubai, passed away on Sunday after battling an illness. He had been receiving treatment at a children’s specialty hospital in the city for some time, according to family members.
Friends and relatives described him as bright, warm, and full of life. News of his passing has deeply affected the Indian expat community in the UAE.
Joel was the beloved son of Binoy and Roshni, originally from Kollam in Kerala. He was a Class 5 student at The Indian High School in Dubai, one of the UAE’s oldest and most respected educational institutions.
“He was a smart, lively boy who brought joy to everyone around him. His parents are devastated,” a family friend shared.
Joel is survived by his three sisters, Diya, Anna, and Jovana. His family has decided to take his mortal remains back to Kerala for the final rites.
Joel’s funeral will take place at Lourdes Matha Church in Meenkulam, Anchal, on Wednesday at 2 pm. Family members and loved ones are expected to gather to pay their final respects.
The Malayalam Mission Dubai Chapter expressed deep condolences. The initiative, launched by the Government of Kerala to promote and teach the Malayalam language to Non-Resident Keralites, plays an important role in preserving cultural ties among expats.
